The Humpies, a classic all purpose dry fly developed in the 1940's by Jack Horner of California were discovered and brought to the Rocky Mountains by Pat and Sig Barnes. They were very impressed by the fish catching qualities of these Humpies or Goofus bugs as they were later called, and began tying them for sale in their Montana fly Shop. An almost unsinkable fly. A rugged, high floating meaty fly perfect for the faster western rivers.

Because they float so well, Irresistibles, and Humpy patterns are the choice of many anglers to use as the lead fly in two fly indicator rigs to fish very small flies effectively. Larger sizes are used as skating flies for Steelhead.
