There is not a time of year when you can't use shrimp or scud patterns to catch trout and panfish . This  shrimp pattern originated in British Columbia, by Mary Stewart of Vancouver. It's  become " the most popular shrimp imitation for their interior lakes". The original pattern had an orange body.

"I see in your catalog that you have Werner's shrimp. We used  Mary Stewart's shrimp fly , only with a olive green body .  Werner used the fly all the time . When any body was talking about what was happening and Werners name came up, it was said that he was using his shrimp fly , hence it , the fly , came to be known as Werners shrimp . Cheers Mike "
