SKU:
This realistic little crab is durable and casts easy...even with a 4 weight. This is one of the new trends in fishing crab flies. They sell them on the Orvis web site under the name Simons Hovercrab.
I've had a number of requests to make one up. The Idea is to weight down a floating crab so that it stays out of the weeds and more visable to the fish. (suspends in the feeding zone)
This one floats like a cork, and can be fished as a surface feeding crab. The way to fish it as a hover crab is to attach a 1/100 ounce soft shot on your tippet at the desired distance from the bottom....it just bearly sinks it , so it goes down slow , then hovers over the weeds. Waiting for that hungry Redfish...or Bonefish to grab it.
These are pro tied on Dia-Riki D-7053 stainless hooks.
