The bunny leech pattern is one of the most successful flies used in Alaska for big fish. Whether its trophy rainbows, big lakers & char, or voracious northern pike, bunny fur imparts an irresistible action which big fish can't pass up.

The Triple Threat articulated leech is variation of a black bunny leech designed to imitate a lamprey eel. This pattern is an offshoot of a previous design,  which was extremely successful on the Naknek River in the Bristol Bay region during the springtime feeding binge of big rainbows. The articulated leech is also ideal for toothy predators like Alaska's northern pike.

By definition, the articulated leech is two or more flies, joined to make one long, wiggly, artificial. The size in itself is enough to draw attention, but its lifelike swimming motion adds a degree of realism that drives fish nuts. 
For increased motion on the triple, in addition to the weight of the conehead, extra  weight has been added with lead wire to the head of the first fly, the tail of the second fly, and the head of the third fly.  When you fish them with a strip retrieve, they bend at the joints, and then straighten with a strip, resulting in a swimming leech.
