"This pattern was a favorite of an old trout fisherman and fly tier who fooled a lot of brown trout in Midwestern spring creeks about 60 years ago. I saved a few of his flies and had Al Miller tie me up a new batch when my old supply ran short. These flies catch fish from size 16 to size 2, evidently imitating a wide variety of invertebrate nymphs and emergers as well as larger leeches and  drowning terrestrials in the bigger sizes. They are positively dynamite flies for catching brown trout, especially BIG brown trout. Fish Larry's Red badger fly so the hackles pulse on the retrieve, bringing the fly to life."
